SOLAR BROKER - WHAT ARE SOLAR FEED-IN TARIFFS?
Your feed-in tariff is the amount per kilowatt you are paid for energy that your solar system feeds power back into the grid, via your energy meter. This occurs when your solar system is producing more energy than you are using to power your house.
Feed-in tariffs vary considerably by state, and where you live within that state. The amount is usually made up of two components:
- The amount your state government pays you (if applicable) and the amount your energy retailer pays you.
- The amount energy retailers pay you will vary dramatically, so it is worth shopping around for a good feed-in tariff.
